SimCity Refund Info

Now that the hard part’s over… let’s get to the free shit!

The release of SimCity has resulted in mayhem to say the least. After getting an influx of customer complaints during the server launch meltdown, EA disabled what they called ‘non-critical features. The proverbial snowball caused a seeming proverbial avalanche… and hence why we’re still talking about it today! Well if that wasn’t enough,  Lucy Bradshaw general manager of Maxis in affiliation with EA commented earlier today that although the Sim City disaster could have been avoided by including a single player off-line mode, it just wasn’t in the cards. She stated,

It was fundamental… from the ground up, we designed this game with multiplayer in  mind.

The good news: After the huge oversight that they’d just not prepared for so many users to log in at once, they’re finally ready to make things right. The company has released a long list of games they’ll be doling out free of charge to those of us who took the plunge and bought SimCity before news of the disaster hit our ears. Bradshaw pleaded with fans to give them a second chance,

…to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game. I know that’s a little contrived,” Bradshaw admits, “kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.

Free titles include:

  • Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Bejeweled 3
  • Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)
  • Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
  • Plants vs. Zombies
  • SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition.

Players have until the end of this month (March 30, 2013) to claim their games. Although, I think it’s pretty cruddy that 2 of these games I’ve already downloaded for free on my iPad… but whatever, you be the judge as to whether these options work for you.
