It seems the magic of the internet really ruined yet another “something” many gamers looked forward to for the next generation. Creator of Super Smash Bros. Masahiro Sakurai took it upon himself to indulge Smash Bros. fans about what to expect for the next installment on the Wii U, in his bi-weekly Weekly Famitsu column.
The devil was in the details for sure, as the main point that seems to have resonated very clearly is that Youtube and players who have uploaded the CG cutscenes from the game have forced the creator’s hand:
“Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the internet. You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I’ve decided against having them.”
